The Kent chapter of Soroptimist International is seeking applicants for the club’s Ruby: Women Helping Women Award.

Applications are available by sending e-mail requests to sikent@soroptimist.net. They must be returned to the club by Dec. 1, by sending them to the sikent@soroptimist.net address.

Previous nominees include women who have spearheaded efforts to open a domestic-violence shelter, started a mentoring program for at-risk girls, or lobbied companies to provide on-site child care. SI Kent will provide the winner with a $250 cash grant and will donate $500 in her name to her charity of choice.

Winners of the club-level award will compete for additional recognition at other levels of the Soroptimist organization. The winner of the finalist award will be selected by an online poll. The winner will receive a $5,000 donation to the charity of her choice.

Women may nominate themselves or other women they feel are deserving of the honor.
