Members of Machinists Union District Lodge 751 raised more than $284,000 for Guide Dogs of America in 2015.
District 751 is one of the top fundraisers for the charity in North America. Over the past seven years, IAM 751 members have raised more than $2 million to help provide service dogs and training in their use for people who are blind or have impaired vision.
The money was raised with a series of fundraisers, which included go-kart races and a weekend of drag racing at Pacific Raceways in Kent, and a horseshoes tournament at the Red Dog Saloon in Maple Valley.
IAM 751 President Jon Holden presented a check for $284,641.37 at the annual Guide Dogs of America charity banquet in Las Vegas, Nov. 20.
“Our members continue to find new ways to help make our community better,” Holden said. “Thanks to everyone who contributed their time or their money to this worthy cause in 2015.”

Originally formed in 1935 by hourly workers at the Boeing Co., District Lodge 751 of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers now represents more than 33,000 working men and women at 52 employers across Washington and California.
