A man reportedly swallowed more than a gram of heroin in an effort to hide the illegal drug as he pulled his car over with a Kent Police vehicle behind him.

The man told an officer he did, “a really stupid thing” by swallowing the heroin. He added he did it because he didn’t want to get caught with heroin on him, according to the police report.

A patrol officer saw a Saturn SW2 going eastbound at about 10:44 a.m. on Sept. 11 in the 800 block of West Willis Street. The officer ran the license plate of the vehicle and discovered it was registered to a man with a suspended license who had an ID card only.

After the officer pulled the driver over and ran a records check on him, it turned out the man had a King County Sheriff’s Office warrant for identity theft and a Federal Way Police warrant for attempted forgery.

In addition to the warrants, police arrested the man for investigation of tampering with physical evidence for swallowing the heroin, driving while license suspended and possession of drug paraphernalia. Officers found a straw and tin foil, two items typically used by someone who smokes heroin, in the man’s backpack inside the car.

After the man told police he had swallowed heroin, the man started to act slow and lethargic. Officers took the man to Valley Medical Center in Renton where he was treated and released. But when police took the man to the county jail on the warrants, jail staff refused to admit him because they said he wasn’t fit for booking. Police then took the man to the city jail, where staff booked him.

Man pulls knife on store employee

Officers arrested a man for investigation of harassment after he allegedly chased a woman with a knife on Sept. 12 outside of the Cricket Wireless store, 26019 104th Ave. SE.

The man reportedly approached a store employee on a smoke break because he was upset with the “sucky” phone he had paid a lot of money for, according to the police report.

The employee ran from the man who chased her through the parking lot before she managed to get back inside the store, locked the door and called 911. The man stayed outside the store for a while before walking away.

Officers located the man at an intersection near the store. He denied threatening the employee with a knife. Police found a small folding knife in the man’s pants pocket. Earlier in the day, the same man reportedly had been spotted with a knife outside of the iGrad school, northeast of the Cricket Wireless store.

Woman pepper sprays door

Police cited a woman for investigation of tampering with property of another after she reportedly used pepper spray on the door of her ex-fiance’s home at about 9:56 p.m. on Sept. 12 in the 25300 block of 31st Avenue South.

The man called 911 to report his former fiancee had knocked on all of his windows, according to the police report. When officers arrived, they saw the woman up near the house. The man told police she had just used pepper spray on his door. Officers noted the woman held a can of pepper spray in her hand and admitted to using it on the door.

The woman told officers she was upset her former boyfriend had another woman at the house before she arrived at the home.

Inmate leaves cemetery work site

Officers cited a man at large for investigation of escape from the city jail after he reportedly walked away from a work release site at about 10:05 a.m. on Sept. 12 at the Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St.

The man was part of the work crew assigned by jail staff to help with jobs at the cemetery and had reportedly been in a fight with another inmate shortly before leaving the site, according to the police report.
