A former Kentridge High School teacher pleaded guilty to two counts of communication with a minor for immoral purposes and second-degree promoting prostitution.
Brent Patrick Conley, 28, of Seattle, entered the plea Friday in King County Superior Court, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Conley pleaded guilty to one felony count and one gross misdemeanor count of communication with a minor for immoral purposes.
Prosecutors will recommend a sentence of 16 months in jail to be served through work release, 36 months of community supervision and a $5,000 fine. Conley also must register as a sex offender.
Conley is scheduled to be sentenced at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, before King County Superior Court Judge Monica Benton at the King County Courthouse in Seattle. Conley initially pleaded not guilty to the charges in October and is out on bail.
The former teacher had been scheduled to go to trial on Monday, Aug. 18.
Seattle Police arrested Conley in September outside of a downtown McDonald’s as part of an undercover sting where a detective posed online as a 15-year-old girl seeking sex with older men in exchange for money.
Conley was a first year English and social studies teacher at Kentridge ast fall until his arrest. He is no longer employed by the Kent School District.
Conley responded to an ad in a casual encounters section of a popular website featuring a title of, “Student looking for older men,” according to charging papers. Conley responded through email and started up a correspondence where he was told the girl was a high school cheerleader looking to make some money by having sex.
The conversations via email and text messages continued for two days and Conley agreed to pay $100 for sex. He agreed to meet the girl at the McDonald’s in downtown Seattle on Fourth Avenue. Officers observed Conley at about 7:06 p.m. on Sept. 18, arriving and parking at the agreed upon meeting location before making their arrest.
