Investigation continued Tuesday into the cause of a fire Monday night in the 26100 block of 114th Avenue Southeast, Kent.
The blaze was first reported at 10:22 p.m. When Kent firefighters arrived on scene they found smoke and flames coming from the second story of the small two-story, single-family residence. According to the owner, who was contacted and came to the scene, the home was not in use. The last occupants moved out approximately one month ago.
No one was injured in the fire and several searches of the building confirmed that no one was inside. The biggest danger to firefighters and the public was the live power line which came down when it burned through the connection to the house. Puget Sound Energy responded to the scene and disconnected the power source. King County Paramedics also were on scene as a precaution.
Kent Kangley Road was closed in both directions for two hours by Kent Police due to hose lines which crossed the major east-west thoroughfare. The road was reopened to traffic later that night.
