For the Reporter

Kent and Tukwila Firefighters are having a “Let’s Eat Out” night at the Old Spaghetti Factory at Southcenter to raise money for the “Soup Ladies.”

The dinner is from 5 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 14 at the restaurant, 17100 Southcenter Parkway, Tukwila. The Old Spaghetti Factory will donate 15 percent of a dinner’s proceeds to the “Soup Ladies,” who have been serving home-cooked meals to first-responders and emergency workers throughout Washington while on the job since 2003.

The “Soup Ladies” have built a reputation of service to others. In 2015, the ladies provided 7,500 meals to first-responders, search and rescue teams, and military personnel engaged in emergencies and disasters.

They have served meals at the front lines of the Oso Landslide, and to fire crews in Auburn, Kent and Puyallup. The Soup Ladies are there for rescues, freeway accidents, and many more instances where emergency workers are putting their lives on the line to protect the public.

Mama Passarelli and the Soup Ladies have also reached out to help on a national level when called, providing meals to emergency crews responding to Hurricane Katrina and Superstorm Sandy.

Reservations are recommended. For more information, call the restaurant at 206-664-6800.
