Ceremonies were at campuses last two years due to COVID-19 restrictions

For the first time since 2019, high school graduation ceremonies in the Kent School District will return to the accesso ShoWare Center.

Schools had ceremonies on campus in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19 restrictions.

The ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday, June 11, according to an April 6 announcement by the district.

Here’s the ShoWare Center June 11 schedule:

• Kent-Meridian and iGrad, 8:30 a.m.

• Kentlake, 12:30 p.m.

• Kentridge, 4:30 p.m.

• Kentwood, 8 p.m.

The ceremony for the Kent Laboratory Academy will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 9 at the Kent-Meridian High School gym. The Transition Outreach Program will have its ceremony at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at the Kent-Meridian Performing Arts Center.

The district said to ensure it follows state and county social distancing guidelines, it will adhere to the accesso ShoWare Center facility requirements. At this time, the city-owned arena no longer requires masks per King County health guidelines.

“As graduation approaches, schools will provide additional information and updates regarding COVID-19 procedures,” according to the district.

The district said it will live stream all graduations so that family and friends anywhere can be a part of the big day at the same time as those who are able to attend in person.
