Husband arrested after reportedly punching, hitting his wife while she breast-fed their baby

Assault

Police arrested a 46-year-old man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly punched and hit his wife as she breast-fed their baby at about 1 a.m. July 25 at an apartment in the 25200 block of 106th Avenue Southeast.

An argument turned physical after the wife took a shower and entered a bedroom. The husband ripped the towel off of his wife and started to punch her in the head and arms.

Somehow, the man’s thumb ended up in the woman’s mouth. The woman told police she bit the thumb in self-defense.

The dispute stopped briefly before the husband approached his wife again as she breast fed their baby. In addition to punching her, the man also reportedly used a broken piece from a step stool to hit the woman in the back, according to the police report.

The husband denied hitting his wife.

Burglary

A woman got up out of bed in the middle of the night July 25 to use a bathroom at a Kent motel in the 700 block of Central Avenue North when she ran into an intruder who had entered the room through an unlocked window.

The woman tried to open the bathroom door and felt resistance, according to reports. She returned to the bed to wake up her husband and then saw a man flee the room through the entrance door. She called 911 to report the incident.

Police arrested a 22-year-old man for investigation of burglary, after catching him running through Kent Memorial Park shortly after the 4:25 a.m. incident. The man matched the description the woman had given to police.

The husband discovered his wallet missing from his pants. Rings the couple had placed on top of a television set in the room also were missing.

The woman told police she initially thought she had seen a ghost when she tried to enter the bathroom.

After police caught the man, he denied that he had been in the motel room. Officers found a debit card and identification card belonging to the woman’s husband in the man’s possession.

Assault

A 29-year-old man reportedly threw a beer can that cut his 37-year-old girlfriend’s face during a dispute at about 12:40 a.m. July 24 at an apartment in the 100 block of Summit Avenue North.

Officers arrested him for investigation of fourth-degree assault.

The woman told police her boyfriend had been going through withdrawal from methadone and had self-medicated himself by drinking beer. The woman said he had been drinking a lot that night, so she hid his beer, upsetting him. When he found the hidden beer, he reportedly opened up a 12-ounce can and threw the can at her.

The boyfriend told officers that he had argued with his girlfriend because she let too many people stay at their apartment, including four that night.

Drugs

Police initially pulled over a vehicle at about 2 a.m. July 27 in the 26500 block of 116th Avenue Southeast because a tow package blocked the visibility of its rear license plate.

Following the stop, and after checking records, they arrested its 23-year-old male driver for investigation of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended, according to the police report. They also arrested the man for a theft warrant out of King County.

The driver told officers he had pulled into a driveway because he had run out of gas. After police discovered the warrant for the man’s arrest, they searched him and his vehicle.

Officers reportedly found a glass pipe in a pocket in the man’s shorts. They also used a police dog, reportedly finding marijuana and a glass pipe inside the man’s vehicle.
