An unused barn burned to the ground Sunday evening in Kent in the 14000 block of Southeast 283rd Place.

Firefighters from the Kent and Valley Regional Fire Authorities responded to the call just before 6 p.m., and found the large barn fully engulfed in flames. For safety reasons, firefighters stayed outside as they battled the flames in the collapsing building, according to a Kent RFA media release.

According to the owners of the property, the barn did not contain anything of value and that transients had been seen on the property. Kent Police officers reportedly have made several arrests of trespassers in the past.

No other structures were affected by the fire and there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
