Kent bicyclist killed in collision with vehicle along Central Avenue

48-year-old man dies at the scene in Nov. 22 crash

A 48-year-old Kent man was killed when his bicycle collided with a vehicle Wednesday, Nov. 22 in the 800 block of Central Avenue South in Kent.

Multiple 911 callers reported at about 12:33 p.m. that a vehicle had collided with a man on a bicycle, according to a Nov. 22 Kent Police news release.

Officers and medical personnel arrived within minutes and began lifesaving efforts, but the man didn’t survive his injuries.

Witnesses reported seeing the bicycle abruptly turn in front of a vehicle that was travelling southbound on Central Avenue South. The driver of the vehicle, a 24-year-old man, stayed at the scene of the crash and has been fully cooperative with the investigation, according to police. Early indications are that substance impairment of the vehicle driver was not a factor in the crash.

The Kent Police Traffic Unit was called to the scene to conduct the investigation. Officers collected evidence and statements to determine the circumstances that led up to the crash.
