Kent man, 52, killed in crash along SR 18 in Auburn

Two vehicles collided traveling westbound Wednesday night, Sept. 3

A 52-year-old Kent man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday night, Sept. 3 along westbound State Route 18, just east of the Green River Bridge near SE 304th Street in Auburn.

Adam Lagozzino, who was driving alone at about 8:12 p.m. in a 2009 Hyundai Sonata sedan, died at the scene, according to the Washington State Patrol. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Lagozzino and a second vehicle, a 2022 Ford F-450 truck pulling an utility trailer, were traveling westbound in lane two of two lanes, according to the State Patrol. Lagozzino lost control and came to a stop facing the wrong way. The truck struck his vehicle, which then hit the guardrail on the left.

The truck struck the barriers on the right and left. Both vehicles came to rest in lane two and on the left shoulder.

The driver of the truck, a 40-year-old Sequim man, and his passenger, a 21-year-old Olympia man, each were injured and transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center, according to the State Patrol. Both were wearing seat belts.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to the State Patrol. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved.

The road was blocked for 3 hours and 58 minutes.
