Monroe Police arrested a 20-year-old Kent man Dec. 11 for investigation of first-degree rape and first-degree kidnapping in connection with a 23-year-old woman he met at a Kirkland nightclub.

Police arrested the man after a traffic stop in Auburn by the U.S. Marshals Service, said a Monroe Police spokesman. Monroe Police had alerted other agencies that the man might be in the Auburn area.

The man allegedly offered the woman a ride home after they met Nov. 22 at a Kirkland nightclub. But he didn’t take her home and reportedly attacked her at an unknown location between Kirkland and Monroe before taking her to a Monroe motel.

The woman told police that the man held her against her will for a couple of hours at the motel before he allowed her to leave. She then called police.

The man is in the Snohomish County Jail. Bail was set at $200,000. He is expected to be arraigned later this month in Snohomish County Superior Court.
