Kent-Meridian hip hop team dances its way to state title

The Kent-Meridian High School Royal Dynasty hip-hop dance team won the state championship on March 28 in Yakima.

The team of seven girls and four boys competed against 18 other teams in the hip-hop dance category to win the competition. Dance teams are judged in several categories including execution, style, and performance.

Winning the state championship caps a year that saw the team win each competition it entered.

Coached by Erin Hocevar, the members of the team are: Keelan Johnson, Geraldine Enrico, Rayven Palmer, Geraldine Cortez, TaRae Demry, Angelica Zillaruel, JoJo Pham, Edna Manangan, Anthony Maralit, Johnny Sith, Peter Molia. The team advisor is Christina Spencer.
