Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly grabbed his former girlfriend’s arm and twisted it behind her back as she held their 11-month-old baby in the other arm.
The incident happened at about 11:02 a.m. Oct. 22 at a home in the 600 block of Kensington Avenue, according to the police report.
Officers searched for the man after he fled on foot but the man called 911 a short time later to report that his ex-girlfriend reportedly had assaulted him when he visited her. Officers detained the man in the 200 block of Central Avenue North, where he told 911 police would find him.
The woman told police she had broken up with her boyfriend about three months ago and he wanted to come visit with their son. The visit started out smoothly before the man started to accuse the woman of sleeping with other men.
The woman then opened the front door and told her ex-boyfriend to leave. But he reportedly forced the door closed, grabbed her arm and twisted it behind her back as she held their baby, who was not hurt.
After the woman grabbed her cellphone to call 911, the man took away the phone and threw it against a wall. He eventually left the house.
The man told officers his ex-girlfriend had hit him in the face, but the officer noted he did not see any marks on the man. The woman had bruises on her arms. The man said he went to the home to talk to her about “who she was sleeping with.”
Police transported the man to the city jail.
Theft
Officers arrested a man for investigation of third-degree theft after he reportedly took a bottle of liquor and a six pack of pop at about 10:06 p.m. Oct. 20 from the Safeway grocery store, 210 Washington Ave. S.
Store security reported that the man had left the store with no attempt to pay for the items, according to the police report.
The man told police he inadvertently left the store without paying for the items because he was looking for his wife before he paid and that they got into an argument so he forgot to pay.
Police located the man’s vehicle outside but did not find his wife. After officers booked the man into the city jail, he changed his story and said his wife was not at the store with him.
Assault
Police arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he allegedly threw rocks that hit a bar employee at about 12:30 a.m. Oct. 21 at the Bad Monkey Bar and Grill, 623 Central Ave. S.
An employee told officers that the man had been kicked out of the bar and then became angry, according to the police report.
The man reportedly started to throw rocks at the bar from the parking lot and one of the rocks struck an employee in the head, causing minor bleeding.
Two witnesses said they saw the man throwing the rocks that hit the employee. The rocks nearly hit one of the witnesses as well.
The man declined to talk to police about the incident.
Stolen car
Officers thought they had recovered a stolen truck at about 1:36 p.m. Oct. 20 in the 8600 block of South 218th Street.
The truck had been reported stolen earlier in the day out of Tukwila, according to the police report.
But when police contacted the truck’s owner, he told them the truck was not stolen but that co-workers had played a prank on him and moved his vehicle without telling him.
He said when he called to report the stolen truck he didn’t know about the prank. By the time he found out, he already had reported the vehicle as stolen.
Kent Police removed the truck from a stolen vehicle list.
