Kent pedestrian, 70, dies after collision with vehicle on East Hill

Man was crossing SE Kent-Kangley Road Saturday evening, Jan. 21

A 70-year-old Kent man died after he was hit by a vehicle while walking across SE Kent-Kangley Road.

The collision occurred at about 5:07 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21 in the 12900 block of SE Kent-Kangley Road, according to Kent Police.

Paramedics transported the man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he later died, according to police.

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators, according to a Jan. 23 email from Kent Police Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner.

“There were no indications that impairment or speed were a factor,” Kasner said.

Kasner said the man was not in a crosswalk when he was struck.

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the man’s identity.
