Kent pedestrian killed in hit-and-run along SR 516

Kent man, 55, dies at scene Saturday night, Dec. 13 near West Meeker Street as vehicle flees

A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run collision late Saturday night, Dec. 13 in Kent along State Route 516 near West Meeker Street.

Cipriano Valdovinos Pio, 55, of Kent, was killed in the 11:46 p.m. collision, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A vehicle was traveling eastbound on SR 516 (aka Kent Des Moines Road) just east of West Meeker Street in lane two of two, according to the State Patrol. The pedestrian also was in lane two when struck. He died at the scene.

The driver continued eastbound on SR 516. The road was blocked for 3 hours and 30 minutes.

It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved. The cause remains under investigation by the State Patrol.
