Kent Police arrest man in sports bar parking lot shooting

Federal Way man, 36, taken into custody in Dec. 22 shooting that injured 34-year-old Kent man

Kent Police arrested a 36-year-old Federal Way man for reportedly shooting and injuring a Kent man in a December shooting in a sports bar parking lot.

Detectives arrested the man Jan. 17, according to a Jan. 17 Kent Police news release. Valley SWAT assisted Kent Police with the arrest at the man’s residence. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the King County Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent.

Officers responded just after midnight Dec. 22 to a report of a shooting in the parking lot of Action Sports Bar, 25626 102nd Pl. SE, according to police. A 34-year-old Kent man had been shot in the leg during an altercation involving a group of six to nine individuals in the parking lot.

Officers found the man lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to his upper right thigh. Paramedics transported the man to a local hospital for treatment.

“There seems to have been some sort of commotion inside the bar which led to the (man) exiting the bar and then having been shot,” Kent Police Assistant Chief Jarod Kasner said in a Dec. 26 Kent Reporter story about the shooting.
