Kent Police Blotter: Aug. 24 to Sept. 5

Incidents include child shot in leg, scooter attack, school threat

A sampling of Kent Police incidents Aug. 24 to Sept. 5:

Aug. 24

2 males detained: Officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle at the entrance to the Benson Village Apartments, 10820 SE 211th Pl., and were given a description of two males that were getting out of the SUV. Officers arrived and found those males back inside the SUV. Males were detained and the vehicle was discovered to be stolen out of Renton. They recovered stolen mail, drugs, several very realistic BB pistols/rifles, and one actual pistol. Both were arrested on various charges.

Aug. 28

Child shot in leg: A call was received from Puget Sound Fire stating they were on scene with a child that suffered a gunshot wound. Fire personnel requested priority response due to the firearm not being secured and it being unknown if the injury was self-inflicted. Victim was with his 12-year-old brother and parents were not home at the time of the shooting. Per medics on scene, they believed child had a gunshot wound to the leg from the .22 caliber rifle collected on scene. Victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in stable condition.

Aug. 29

Assault: An assault domestic violence was reported to be heard at The BLVD Apartments, 2136 S 272nd St., with a separate threat with a gun to the reporting party. Officers located the uncooperative suspect outside. He made several furtive movements into his pockets but he was taken into custody with minimal force used. He did not have a firearm on him and the reporting party later advised he merely acted like he had a gun. The female victim, with an obvious facial injury, was also uncooperative and denied anything happened. The male was subsequently booked for obstructing. The female was in hysterics and involuntarily committed. She later called to report her boyfriend had assaulted her and was now cooperative with the investigation.

Aug. 30

Scooter attack: A victim and suspect had exchanged words in a parking lot near West Meeker Street and 64th Avenue South. The suspect pushed victim to ground then used the victim’s scooter and assaulted him. Victim was transported to the hospital for a confirmed broken leg. Officers were able to get the suspect vehicle plate and positively ID the suspect.

Aug. 31

No-contact violation: A respondent was driving around the petitioner in a domestic violence no contact order overnight throughout the Valley violating the order in different cities as the petitioner’s family was locating them. An officer established probable cause and graveyard/dayshift officers located the vehicle numerous times operating on the roadway but were unable to safely catch up with it. The officer continued to monitor Flock cameras for the suspect vehicle which hit in SeaTac. King County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to Motel 6 per officer request, on viewed another order violation, and the suspect was taken in custody.

Vehicle windows smashed: A subject was smashing vehicle windows with a baseball bat. As officers arrived, they learned he was had left the scene in a vehicle. Minutes later, a malicious mischief was occurring at Arbor Chase Apartments, 1615 W. Smith St., with the same suspect description. Officers responded there and took the male into custody. He was extremely intoxicated and lived at Arbor Chase. No explanation was given as to why he damaged so many vehicles.

Sept. 1

Man with axe: A suspect kicked in the victim’s front door and threatened him with an axe before fleeing. He was spotted by officers at the ampm store at South 212th Street and 84th Avenue South. He had entered the exterior bathroom. He was arrested and booked.

Sept. 3

School threat: 5:45 a.m., a call was received regarding threats made on a school chat to shoot up Canyon Ridge Middle School, 11000 SE 264th St. School Resource officers responded, immediately taking over the call. They quickly contacted the suspect and family, determining there were no weapons in the home. They maintained a presence at the school throughout the day.

Sept. 4

Drive-by shooting: 7:32 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 13200 block of 264th Place, reference a drive-by shooting which had occurred over night. The victim had awoken in the morning and found pieces of drywall in the kitchen then noticed fresh holes in the wall. They then went outside and found several holes in the front of the house. A single shell casing was located at the scene.

Juvenile arrest: An officer, with assistance from the Crime Reduction Unit, responded a suspicious circumstance at BLVD Apartments, 2136 S 272nd St. A vehicle wanted by King County Sheriff’s Office for use in an earlier eluding case was located, a juvenile suspected in a robbery by Federal Way was located but they declined to book, just taking his clothes. He was then booked by Kent Police on a juvenile warrant.

Sept. 5

Short pursuit: An officer located a vehicle involved in some vehicle prowls that generated multiple calls for service. After a brief pursuit where the suspect vehicle was chased out of the city’s jurisdiction, the officer made the decision to disengage.

Dead body: Officers responded to a dead body on arrival at Meridian Green Townhomes, 11305 SE Kent-Kangley Road. Once inside the apartment, thousands of pills and multiple pounds of powdered fentanyl were located. Detectives later responded and several thousand dollars of cash and firearms were also located.
