Kent Police Blotter: Feb. 26 to March 11

Incidents include shots fired, armed robbery, indecent exposure

A sampling of Kent Police incidents Feb. 26 to March 11:

Feb. 26

Shots fired: 1:05 p.m., patrol responded to a shooting at 13000 SE Kent Kangley. The victims, including an off-duty deputy, reported an unknown male pointing a rifle at them as they were unloading items behind a restaurant. They fled on foot upon hearing gunshots.

Domestic dispute: 7:42 p.m., patrol responded to a verbal domestic at Midtown 64 Apartments, 24615 64th Ave. S. Although no probable cause was established, a male involved had outstanding warrants and fled from officers in a vehicle. A subsequent collision occurred, but no occupants were found.

Feb. 27

Missing child found: 6:53 a.m., patrol responded to Central Flats Apartments, 1024 Central Ave. N., for a missing 3-year-old. After an extensive search involving patrol and detectives, another individual found the child unharmed.

Feb. 28

Armed robbery: 2:40 p.m., patrol responded to an armed robbery at 11400 SE 219th Pl. The victim reported being threatened with a gun and robbed of her belongings by a suspect who fled in her car.

March 1

Neglect: Patrol responded to a fire assist at 22125 124th Ave. SE. A quadriplegic individual was found in need of medical attention due to neglect by their caregiver.

March 2

Armed robbery: around 7:31 p.m., patrol responded to an armed robbery at Safeway, 210 Washington Ave. S. The victim was robbed of her purse by an armed suspect who fled in a vehicle.

March 5

Man in stolen vehicle: At 20036 103rd Place SE, an officer was dispatched to an unoccupied stolen vehicle. Upon arrival, he discovered a second stolen vehicle occupied with the engine running. Officers blocked the vehicle in. When the driver woke up, he attempted to flee, the suspect then surrendered and was taken into custody.

Dollar Tree robbery: Officers responded to a robbery with a knife at the Dollar Tree, near South 232nd Street and Pacific Highway South. The officer established probable cause, and officers located the suspect nearby with another female. The suspect fled onto the I-5 northbound on-ramps but was apprehended by officers.

Threat with sword: 4:07 a.m., police responded to a situation where a suspect armed with a sword prevented a family member from leaving a house. SWAT eventually persuaded the suspect to surrender.

Carjacking: Officers tracked a stolen car to a Safeway parking lot. The suspect attempted to flee, collided with a vehicle, and then tried to carjack another vehicle before being apprehended.

March 9

Shots fired: 10:20 a.m., police responded to reports of shots fired at Grandview Apartments, 3900 Veterans Drive. A masked individual was seen firing a handgun, but no arrests were made.

March 10

Drive-by shooting: 2:46 p.m., police responded to reports of a drive-by shooting at Cascade Apartments, 20402 106th Ave. SE. Several vehicles and apartments were struck, but no injuries were reported.

March 11

Indecent exposure arrest: 10:50 p.m., police responded to a report of indecent exposure at the Allegro Performing Arts Academy, 222 Central Ave. S. The suspect, with multiple priors and warrants, was arrested without issue.
