Drive-by shooting, robbery, carjacking among incidents

A sampling of Kent Police incidents Nov. 14-29:

Nov. 14

No contact violation: 3:45 p.m., officers responded to a violation of a no contact order where a man broke into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, grabbed her car keys and stole her vehicle.

Nov. 16

Head-on collision: 7:52 p.m., patrol responded to a head-on collision in the 900 block of Central Avenue North. Both vehicles had heavy front-end damage. Driver A was found lying across the front of her vehicle, unconscious with labored breathing, she was later transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Driver B was conscious but later transported to Valley Medical Center in Renton. According to the witness, Driver A crossed all lanes of travel and struck Driver B head on.

Nov. 19

Cellphone robbery: A resident of CityZen Apartments, 10925 SE 259th St., was robbed of his brand-new cellphone and $900 in cash. The incident may have stemmed from a drug transaction in SeaTac earlier that day.

Domestic violence: 5:02 p.m., officers were dispatched to a domestic occurring in the middle of 132nd Avenue SE, with two vehicles blocking traffic. It was determined the male half was stalking his ex-girlfriend. He chased her down and almost ran her off the road endangering numerous motorists. The male was arrested.

Nov. 23

Fire: 7:30 a.m., patrol responded to the report of a fight in the parking lot of St. Vincent De Paul, 310 Central Ave. N., and found a fire had been set to clothing and donation items on the front side of the building. The sprinkler system engaged and contained the fire until it could be completely extinguished. Fire investigators were notified and are investigating. This is the second such incident at the location within the past couple of weeks.

Nov. 24

Drive-by shooting: 12:08 a.m., officers responded to reports of a drive-by shooting at Mosaic Hill Apartments. An unknown subject shot through the victim’s bedroom wall. Several .45 caliber casings were located, and one bullet was recovered. Witnesses heard several gunshots and saw a car speeding through the parking lot with someone firing out the passenger window. Other witnesses observed either a vehicle leaving the complex at high rate of speed and turning off headlamps as leaving the area. An uncooperative 15-year-old male victim with a bullet wound turned up at Valley Medical Center. The victim confirmed he was shot at Mosaic Hills. The vehicle seen leaving the area was found to be the victim’s when he was driving himself to the hospital.

Stolen vehicle: 6:30 p.m., officers located an occupied stolen vehicle. The suspect crashed and four juveniles were detained. The driver went to jail for possession of a stolen vehicle and eluding. The other three were released to parents.

Nov. 25

Vehicles stolen: 9:32 a.m., patrol responded to a burglary at 360 Motors at 821 Central Av. S. #101 where four vehicles were stolen.

Nov. 26

Robbery: 4:16 p.m., a strong-arm robbery occurred at EZ tobacco; 1428 W. Meeker Street. Two suspects assaulted store clerk and took $150.

Nov. 27

Assault: 4:26 p.m., a female was arrested after she vandalized the inside of a Chevron and assaulted random citizens. She resisted arrest and later assaulted a City of Kent corrections officer at the jail.

Carjacking: 8 p.m., police responded to a robbery/carjacking at gunpoint. The victim was going to meet the suspect to purchase an iPhone. They agreed to meet at Scenic Hill park. There the suspects pulled a gun and robbed the victim, then drove him in his vehicle to the US Bank near Fred Meyer on East Hill where they fled with his vehicle.

Nov. 28

Stabbing: 11:11 p.m., police responded to a stabbing at Sunset Motel. The suspect and victim were in an argument. The suspect stabbed victim in shoulder and fled to homeless camp near South 320th Street and Pacific Highway South. Officers located the suspect and arrested him for first-degree assault. Victim had non-life-threatening injuries.

Nov. 29

Mace attack: 3:49 p.m., patrol responded to the report of a 65-year-old man being sprayed in the face with mace. The victim indicated that he witnessed a vehicle driving recklessly. He pulled up next to the suspect vehicle at a red light and rolled down his window to yell at the offending driver. The suspect vehicle chased the victim into a 7-11 parking lot and then ran up to the victim’s window to spray him. There is no suspect plate information nor surveillance video.

Catalytic converters stolen: 1:52 a.m., five U-Haul trucks had the catalytic converters stolen at the 8240 S. 196th St. U-Haul. There was poor quality video that showed two suspects. This type of theft has been a consistent pattern throughout the area the past few months. Officers collected a damaged saw blade left behind by the suspect(s) and submitted it to Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) for possible suspect identification.
