Kent Police have identified the body found Aug. 5 on the East Hill as Lyubov Lutsyk, a 49-year-old Kent woman reported missing in January 2010.
Police do not expect foul play had anything to do with the death of Lutsyk.
“To this date there has been no information or evidence identified to indicate that her disappearance might be the result of a criminal act,” wrote Kent Police Lt. Pat Lowery in a Tuesday email. “Rather, all indications seem to confirm the suspicions of family and police from the beginning, that she likely left home on her own volition and died subsequent to that.”
The manner of death is still under review by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, Lowery said.
A crew clearing brush found the body in the 24100 block of 114th Avenue Southeast.
Lutsyk was last seen Jan. 2, 2010 at her East Hill residence near Clark Lake Park, which is south of Southeast 240th Street and west of 127th Avenue Southeast. When Lutsyk left home, she did not take any personal items such as her purse, cell phone, or money. The vehicle Lutsyk normally drove was still at her residence after her disappearance.
The family of Lutsyk indicated after her disappearance that she had been depressed lately.
“Lyubov’s family is extremely concerned about her,” said Kent Police Lt. John Pagel at the time.
In January 2010, searchers from the King County Sheriff’s Office Marine and K-9 units were unable to find Lutsyk during a widespread search at Clark Lake Park on the East Hill, not far from her home. K-9 units searched the park and a diver looked in the lake at the 130-acre park.
Clark Lake Park was one of the places Lutsyk talked about and the family had concerns that she may be somewhere in the park.
Detectives had doubts from the beginning that foul play resulted in the disappearance of Lutsyk because of a note she left family members about being depressed and wanting to leave and disappear.
