Kent Police investigating West Hill homicide

Man found dead inside vehicle; second killing in three days

Kent Police reported they are investigating the death of a 23-year-old Bonney Lake man on the West Hill as a homicide.

Officers were dispatched at about 2:49 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18 to the Buena Casa Apartments in the 25700 block of 27th Place South in regard to an unconscious, possibly deceased male inside a vehicle, according to a police statement. The apartments are west of Interstate 5 and east of Pacific Highway South.

Officers arrived on the scene within minutes and located the victim inside his locked vehicle. He appeared injured and was not breathing. The vehicle was forcibly opened by fire personnel and they determined he was deceased. Police did not report what kind of injuries the man had.

A vehicle seen leaving the scene by witnesses was determined to not be involved, according to police.

Detectives were on scene Monday collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Kent Police at 253-856-5808 or email KPDTips@kentwa.gov.

13th homicide this year

The killing, the second in three days, is the 13th homicide in the first 10 months of 2021 in Kent. The city had nine homicides in 2020, four in 2019 and seven in 2018.

Police are looking for a suspect who fatally shot a man at about 11:55 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 on the East Hill near the Phoenix Court Apartments.
