Kent schools will have the option to use a prerecorded message by the Kent Police in recognition of the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks during morning announcements Friday, Sept. 9 or Monday, Sept. 12.

The Kent School District, Kent Police and Kent Fire Department partnered to create a start of school day message to remember the fallen heroes and all of those who died from the attacks that day with a brief message, a moment of silence and then the pledge of allegiance, according to a Kent School District media release.

Kent Police Capt. Randy Bourne and other narrators from fire and police departments in Kent, King County, Maple Valley and Renton recorded the brief message in memory of those who died in the Sept. 11 attack. Among the more than 2,800 killed were 343 firefighters and 60 police officers.

The message can be heard at http://www1.kent.k12.wa.us/ksd/it/ksdtube/ksdtube/index.html?q=X3Y5NcZVhaDsPbuTUsUcYw%253d%253d.
