The Kent School Board is seeking candidates for the board position left vacant by the resignation of Chris Davies, whose last meeting as a member of the board was Feb. 10.

Davies announced his resignation Jan. 13. In a prepared statement, Davies said his tax business was experiencing “rapid growth” and he felt he no longer had the time necessary to devote to the board. The school board will appoint a replacement for Davies and is accepting applications from interested candidates to finish the term, which expires in November 2011.

The position represents Director District No. 2, which represents the northeastern part region of he district, including Kentridge High School, Meeker and Northwood Middle Schools, and Fairwood, Ridgewood, Carriage Crest, Glenridge, Lake Youngs and Emerald Park Elementary Schools.

Links to an application and supplemental material are available on the district’s Web site or by contacting Cathy Everett at 253-373-7701 or catherine.everett@kent.k12.wa.us to receive an application. Candidates can also email their completed applications to Ms. Everett.

Applications must be received by 4 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Kent School District Administration Building at 12033 S.E. 256th St.

The board will meet in an executive session Feb. 24 to review qualifications of applicants and will narrow the list to three candidates who will be interviewed in public March 3 for the position.
