The Kent School District hosts the annual Technology Exposition from 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 at the Kent ShoWare Center, 625 W. James St.
More than 100 booths feature KSD students and teachers demonstrating how technology is used in their classrooms alongside local businesses showcasing technology in careers. The partnership provides students and community members a chance to see how technology skills acquired today, translate directly into future professions.
Admission is free.
“I encourage the greater community to come to the Tech Expo and experience first-hand how technology successfully prepares students with 21st century knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the future,” said KSD Board President Debbie Straus.
Superintendent Dr. Edward Lee Vargas added: “The Tech Expo is an excellent example of partnerships in action. From the generous support by partners such as The Boeing Company to the excellent collaboration among our teachers to ensure the integration of 21st century skills into our classrooms, we are most fortunate to live in a community highly committed to each and every student’s success. We hope you take this opportunity to see your investment at work.”
Last year’s Tech Expo drew more than 3,000 people.
There are three new features at the 2012 Tech Expo: state employment representatives will discuss the current technology job climate; organization representatives will share scholarship opportunities for students in grades 7-12; and Boeing employees will provide information regarding careers within The Boeing Company.
The event is organized by the KSD and sponsored by The Boeing Company and other local businesses.
