The city of Kent wants people to respond to an online survey about what they want the city to be in 2035.

How do you think Kent should grow in the next 20 years? Teenagers may say we need more job opportunities and better transportation options. Parents with growing or extended families may want five-bedroom homes on large lots, while singles and those on fixed incomes will be looking for affordable apartments. Streets are likely to be an issue for everyone.

City officials are planning now for what Kent will look like in 20 years. The city is the sixth largest in the state with a population of more than 120,000.

How would you answer these questions?

• Where would you put the anticipated 8,000 new households?

• How will you get from point A to B?

• Where and what kind of new jobs will there be?

• What will make Kent the best place to live?

“We want to hear from as many residents as possible, as well as those who may not live in Kent but work in or travel through the city daily,” said Fred Satterstrom, Kent’s planning director, in a city media release. “It’s your city, so we encourage you to join the conversation, and we’ve made it as easy as possible.”
