It will cost less to adopt a cat or kitten through Oct. 31 at the Kent animal shelter.
Regional Animal Services of King County has lowered adoption fees for cats to $30 from $55 and for kittens to $75 from $100, according to a county media release.
“There’s never been a better time to adopt a pet from us,” said Glynis Frederiksen, interim manager of Regional Animal Services. “We have all shapes, sizes, and colors of cats and dogs waiting for their forever homes.”
Cats are ages six months and older while kittens are younger than six months.
October is also national Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month. The shelter’s adoption fees for dogs ranges from $100 to $250, depending on the age and breed of the pet. A King County pet license, spay or neuter surgery, microchipping, and initial vaccinations are all included in the adoption fee.

Potential adopters are always welcome to come down to the King County Pet Adoption Center in person to pick out a new family member. The center is at 21615 64th Ave. S. in Kent. Hours are 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, noon to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends.
