King County Sheriff’s Office investigates suspicious death near Covington

Body found Dec. 14 near Highway 18 and SE 256th Street

Detectives with the King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit are investigating a suspicious death after deputies found a body in the Southeast 25600 block of State Route 18 near Covington.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office observed suspicious activity at about 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 14 as they passed the unincorporated area of southeast King County, according to a Dec. 16 Sheriff’s Office news release.

They promptly returned to investigate the area where they located a deceased person. The Sheriff’s Office did not say whether a male or female was found.

There are no immediate concerns for public safety, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office has deferred to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the victim and cause of death.
