Man, woman fatally shot at Kent apartment complex

Kent Police trying to determine what led up to shooting Monday night, July 14 on East Hill

Kent Police are trying to clarify what led up to the fatal shooting of a man and a woman Monday night, July 14 at an East Hill apartment complex.

Officers responded at about 8:37 p.m. to reports of an argument at an apartment complex in the 22400 block of Benson Road SE, according to a Tuesday evening, July 15 Kent Police news release. Witnesses also reported hearing gunshots and seeing a man lying on the ground outside.

Upon arrival, officers found a 35-year-old Kent man who appeared to have been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

After securing the area, officers made contact at an apartment believed to be involved in the incident, according to police. They discovered a 46-year-old Kent woman who also had been shot. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Nobody else was in the apartment and there were no other known victims.

“Detectives are actively investigating and following up on initial leads, which may help clarify the circumstances surrounding the argument and subsequent fatal gunfire,” according to a police statement.
