Multiple motorcyclists injured in Auburn collision

The March 16 collision involved 10 vehicles

A collision in Auburn on Saturday, March 16— involving multiple motorcycles and cars — hospitalized and injured several individuals.

An unknown driver in an unknown vehicle serves as the suspect in the collision, with the collision resulting from “following too closely,” according to the Washington State Patrol. The suspect vehicle fled the scene of the collision.

The 12:05 p.m. collision involved 10 vehicles — seven motorcycles, two cars, and the unidentified suspect vehicle. The collision resulted in injuries to 10 individuals, with first responders transporting three of the motorcyclists to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. First aid responders cleared four motorcyclists, two drivers of cars, and a car passenger at the scene for injuries.

According to the state patrol, the multi-vehicle collision started after a vehicle struck a second vehicle on eastbound State Route 18, west of State Route 167 in lane one. The second vehicle struck the suspect vehicle prior to swerving in front of the seven motorcycles in lane two.

The first vehicle arrived at a stop on the right shoulder and the second vehicle stopped on the left shoulder.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene. The motorcyclists arrived at a stop, fully blocking the roadway, according to the state patrol.

The collision resulted in roadway blockages for 4 hours and 7 minutes.

The collision involved individuals from Kent, Auburn, Bellevue, Seattle, Tacoma, Eatonville, Morton, Centralia, and Onalaska, according to the state patrol.
