Volunteers are wanted to serve on the King County-based Municipal League’s Candidate Evaluation Committees for the Primary and General elections.
The Municipal League is a volunteer-driven, non-partisan, non-profit organization that has worked to ensure good government that is open, effective and accountable since 1910. The committees are composed of dedicated volunteers of diverse backgrounds, ages, and political beliefs who evaluate candidates running for local offices in King County. Volunteer applications are due May 24 and may be submitted online.

The ratings attempt to answer a fundamental question for voters: How well could the candidate do the job?
Volunteers are asked to dedicate either a few Saturdays or several weeknights in the month of June to research, interview, and rate candidates.
Candidate ratings are based on four criteria — knowledge, involvement, effectiveness and character — as well as each candidate’s potential to serve their community.
The ratings provide King County voters with a non-partisan assessment of candidates so that they may make an informed choice in the primary and general elections, and are not based on a candidate’s political affiliations or stance on any particular issue.
Volunteers in the candidate rating process are required to refrain from active involvement in campaigns or political parties during the election season, and must step aside from the ratings process if he or she has connections to any candidate in any particular race.
