Seattle Police detectives are still looking for help to solve the murder of a Kent woman a year ago in West Seattle.

With few if any solid leads to investigate, detectives have sought the public’s help since Greggette Renee Guy, 51, was found March 12, 2012 floating in the Puget Sound offshore of Beach Drive Southwest.

“It’s still open and active,” said Seattle Police spokeswoman Renee Witt in a Thursday phone interview. “We’ve received tips on it but it’s still unsolved. We’re asking the public to continue to give us tips to solve the murder.”

Witt said police did not have a suspect in the case. She declined to answer whether detectives think it might have been a murder by someone who was a stranger to Guy or someone who might have known her.

“It’s still open and active so there’s nothing more I can say,” Witt said.

Guy’s murder is listed on the Seattle Police website under Catch a Killer. The site lists 17 current, unsolved murders in Seattle since January 2010. Guy died from severe wounds to her neck, according to the website.

A resident reported seeing a body floating in Puget Sound approximately 30 feet off-shore of the 3800 block of Beach Drive Southwest, according to Seattle Police. Detectives responded to the scene and determined two days later that the death was a homicide.

Detectives believe Guy parked her 2010 Buick Lacrosse in the 4400 block of Beach Drive Southwest on Sunday night, March 11, 2012. She had planned to take a walk along the beach. Guy was found deceased just offshore the next morning.

Relatives of Guy put up a $10,000 reward last year in an effort to help detectives solve the murder.

Guy was a longtime volunteer with Girl Scouts. She worked as a credit analyst for more than 14 years at Pacific Aero Tech, a Kent aviation and aerospace company. She graduated from Central Washington University in 1997 and from Highline Community College in 1994.

Survivors include her husband Dwight Guy and daughter Darilyn Guy.

Anyone with information about the case should call the Seattle Police Homicide Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
