Kent Police arrested a man for investigation of indecent exposure after he allegedly pulled down his shorts and showed his genitals to passing vehicles near the downtown Kent Library and Town Square Plaza.
The incident occurred at about 5:53 p.m. July 17 near the Kent Library, 212 Second Ave. N., according to the police report.
A woman called 911 to report a man pulling his pants down and exposing himself as she drove past Town Square Plaza. An officer later tracked down the man at the park’s restroom. Police initially stopped another man outside the restroom, but determined he was not the man they were looking for.
The man denied exposing himself but told officers he wears his shorts low and sometimes they drop down.
When police told the man that witnesses saw him pulling down his pants, he responded, “That’s crazy.”
Officers searched the man’s backpack and found a pair of underwear inside a pocket. The man told police he does not wear underwear and had none on under his shorts.
Police booked the man into the city jail. He also was banned from Town Square Plaza for 45 days and could be arrested for criminal trespassing if he shows up at the park.
Assault
Officers arrested two men on a variety of charges after they reportedly fought with each other and police at about 12:11 a.m. July 15 in the parking lot outside of the Bad Monkey Bar and Grill, 623 Central Ave. S.
Police arrested one man for investigation of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, obstructing and fourth-degree assault, according to the police report. They arrested a second man for investigation of disorderly conduct, obstructing and resisting arrest.
A bar employee told police he wanted the men off the property because one of the men had threatened the disc jockey at the bar. Officers initially talked to the men in the parking lot and left when it appeared the men also would be leaving.
But a few minutes later officers heard screaming coming from the bar’s parking lot and returned to find two men fighting each other. The one man reportedly had tried to get the other man, who he knew, to leave the property when the fight broke out.
Officers yelled at the men to stop and then two of the officers entered the fight when the men kept punching each other. At one point, the two men and three officers were on the ground fighting between parked vehicles.
Eventually, police were handcuffed both men. An officer fired his Taser to stop one of the men.
Stolen vehicle
Police arrested a man and a woman for investigation of possession of a stolen vehicle after they crashed a car into a bus shelter at about 8:38 a.m. July 17 in the 24000 block of Pacific Highway South.
The man and woman ran from the car after the single-vehicle accident, according to the police report.
Witnesses saw the crash and watched the two run into the nearby Lowe’s hardware store. Police found the man and the woman inside the store.
Police determined that the 1993 Honda Accord had been stolen in Tacoma. The license plates had been changed, but officers used the vehicle identification number (VIN) on the dashboard to track down the car’s owner.
The man told officers he swerved to avoid another vehicle changing lanes and that’s how he hit the shelter. Metro officials estimated damage at $40,000 to the shelter and a sign.
The man told police that he had to use pliers to start the car’s ignition.
Attempted robbery
Officers arrested a man for investigation of attempted robbery after he allegedly tried to rob the Little Caesars Pizza at about 7:10 p.m. July 18 at 20720 Pacific Highway S.
A store employee called 911 to report a man trying to rob the store, according to the police report.
Employees told officers that the man entered the store and demanded money or something bad would happen to them. He pushed an employee away from the cash register but was unable to open the register. The man then fled on foot.
An officer found the man in the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex. The man said he needed money for his family. Police saw the man toss a plastic vodka bottle to the ground.
