Clerks cited for allegedly selling to teenagers

Kent Police cited five employees at five businesses for reportedly furnishing liquor to minors during a June 14 town-wide compliance check at 21 stores, restaurants and bars.

Kent Police worked with an agent from the Washington State Liquor Control Board to use minors with their real identification to attempt to buy alcohol at stores, bars and restaurants, according to a Kent Police media release.

A total of sixteen businesses refused to sell alcohol to the minors.

“We want to thank the 16 businesses which were responsible to the community and did not sell alcohol to a minor,” Police Chief Steve Strachan said in the release.

“That five places did sell to a minor shows that our efforts at education and enforcement must continue.”

The five businesses accused of selling alcohol to minors were:

• 212th Chevron, 8315 S. 212th St.

• Kangley Chevron, 26220 116th Ave. S.E.

• Classic Bar & Grill, 10432 Kent Kangley Road.

• Azteca restaurant, 25633 102nd Place S.E.

• Gonzo’s bar, 15423 S.E. 272nd St.
