SKCAC Industries and Employment Services (SKCAC) celebrates its 50th anniversary with a fundraising breakfast on Wednesday, June 7, from 7 to 9 a.m., at the Kent Senior Center, 600 E. Smith St.
SKCAC is a Kent-based, nonprofit organization with the mission of empowering people with disabilities through gainful employment opportunities.
The breakfast will honor SKCAC’s founders, Kiwanis and community members instrumental in the organization’s success.
Those planning to help celebrate include Sens. Joe Fain, R-Auburn, and Karen Keiser, D-Des Moines; Rep. Tina Orwall, D-Des Moines; Mayor Suzette Cooke; City Council members Les Thomas, Dana Ralph, Tina Budell, Jim Berrios and Dennis Higgins; Kent Police Chief Ken Thomas; Kent Chief Administrative Officer Derek Matheson, Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority Chief Jim Schneider and SKCAC founder Sheila Woodward; along with numerous community members, business owners and civic representatives.
SKCAC’s Employment Services are a resource for employers to meet their hiring objectives. SKCAC helps employers to hire people with disabilities and works closely with the employee and employer for successful employment outcomes.
Debbie Meyers, SKCAC’s executive director and her team are seeking additional employers interested in hiring people with disabilities.
