State Patrol seeks witnesses to 3 crashes on I-5 during Seafair weekend

The Washington State Patrol Criminal Investigation Division is seeking the public’s assistance in its investigations of three collisions on Interstate 5 in the Seattle area over Seafair weekend.

The Washington State Patrol Criminal Investigation Division is seeking the public’s assistance in its investigations of three collisions on Interstate 5 in the Seattle area over Seafair weekend.

Detectives often receive valuable information from witnesses who might have been nearby or seen the vehicles involved just before the crash, even if they didn’t witness the event itself.

The first case is a motorcycle fatality collision that occurred on Aug. 2. The collision occurred in the northbound lanes of I-5 south of State Route 599 in Tukwila at approximately 4:47 p.m., according to a State Patrol media release.

Detectives are also investigating a serious injury collision that occurred on Aug. 3. The one car serious injury collision occurred in the northbound lanes of I-5 at Lake City Way (milepost 170) at approximately 3:09 a.m.

The collision involved a white 2000 Chevrolet Impala and the suspected driver is being investigated for vehicular assault.

Finally, detectives are investigating a one-car serious-injury collision that occurred shortly before 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 3, in the northbound lanes of I-5 at Mercer Street.

The collision involved a green 1998 Toyota Rav4 and the suspected driver is being investigated for vehicular assault.
