Shea Theodore, a Western Hockey League All-Star and the Seattle Thunderbirds’ all-time leader in goals scored and points for a defenseman, is moving on in his young career.

Theodore has joined the American Hockey League’s Norfolk Admirals, the top minor league affiliate of the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks.

“Shea is moving on to pro hockey now and he is ready to contribute on a regular basis at that level,” said T-Birds general manager Russ Farwell. “He was the best player in our series with Portland and we wish him all the best as he moves on with his career.”

Theodore, a Western Conference nominee for the WHL Defenseman of the Year Award, was a first-team Western Conference All-Star this season.

Theodore had 13 goals and 35 assists in 43 games this season.

His 58 goals and 154 assists for 212 points in 257 career games is a franchise best for a defenseman.

Theodore is second in career assists for a defenseman, 12 behind Craig Channell.

He won a gold medal with Team Canada at the 2015 World Junior Championship in January.

Theodore was selected by the Ducks in the first round, 26th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft. He signed a three-ear entry level contract with the Ducks on Sept. 25, 2013.

The Admirals have four games remaining in their season, and it is possible Theodore could play in these games.
