A woman reportedly took the keys to a 2010 Mazda 3 and a wedding ring after she used a garage door opener from the unlocked car to enter a Kent house in the 9400 block of South 242nd Street.
A husband and wife inside the home heard a bang at about 7:42 a.m. on May 24, according to the Kent Police report. When the husband looked outside, he saw the Mazda was missing. He also noticed the garage door was open. The man called 911 to report the missing vehicle and later reported the missing ring.
Later in the afternoon of the same day, an officer on patrol saw a car with loose wood pallets stacked on top of it near East Titus Street and the railroad tracks downtown. The officer pulled the car over for the insecure load. The woman said she was trying to help some friends sell the pallets.
The officer then saw that it was the same Mazda 3 reported stolen earlier in the day. The woman had the keys on her. The woman also wore a ring that matched the description of the stolen ring.
Police arrested the woman for investigation of vehicle theft and residential burglary. A neighbor along South 242nd Street had video surveillance from the morning that showed a woman checking car doors and entering the garage of the home where the Mazda went missing. Officers said the woman in the video matched the woman found with the stolen car. She also had a burglary warrant out of Pierce County.
While on the way to jail, the woman allegedly offered the officer sex in exchange for being released. She was booked into the King County jail in Seattle.
Man on the run
Police arrested a man for investigation of obstructing an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia and a state Department of Corrections escape from community custody warrant after spotting him walking May 27 in the 300 block of West Titus Street.
When an officer started to talk to the man on a sidewalk, he began to backpedal, according to the police report. A second officer thought the man might run, so he drew his Taser and told him to stop. The man stopped, but refused commands to put his hands behind his back. Officers told him he was under arrest for a warrant.
An officer grabbed the man by the arm. When the man resisted, a second officer took the other arm and a third officer handcuffed the man. A search of the man turned up a syringe, plastic pipe and a plastic baggie with a white powder suspected to be meth.
Woman forces way inside home
Officers arrested a woman for investigation of fourth-degree assault and criminal trespassing after she allegedly entered a man’s house by scratching his neck and pushing her way through the door.
A man told officers that a woman knocked on his door yelling for help at about 2:53 a.m. on May 24 in the 500 block of Alvord Avenue, according to the police report. After the woman entered the home, the man went outside and called 911.
Officers found the woman crouched on her knees inside the home. She mumbled something about a snake and that someone was in her body. The man said he didn’t know the woman and had never seen her before.
The woman had warrants for a no-contact protection order violation in SeaTac and a failure to appear for a vehicle trespass in Kent.
Man in the street
Police arrested a man for investigation of disorderly conduct after he reportedly walked down the middle of a street and refused orders from officers to stop walking.
Officers responded at about 12:58 a.m. on May 27 to a call about a man pacing in the street. An officer saw the man walking in the street. He had dark pants, a purple shirt pulled up to just below his eyes and was barefoot.
When two officers approached the man and asked him to stop walking, the man kept walking. One officer used a bear hug to take the man to the ground. The man yelled at officers that he was being harassed by them.
