WSP looking for witnesses to a shooting on Highway 18

Shots fired at truck April 29 in Auburn

Two suspects shot at a semi-truck on Highway 18 in Auburn on April 29. The truck driver was not hurt, but the Washington State Patrol (WSP) is looking for the suspects.

At about 3:55 p.m. April 29, WSP communications received 911 calls reporting two suspects in a passenger vehicle were firing at a semi on eastbound Highway 18 near the exit to Highway 181 in Auburn. Witnesses told officers the semi may have been carrying a load of lumber.

Witnesses told the responding officers one of the suspects was hanging out the left rear window, firing what appeared to be an AR15-style weapon. The front right passenger was also hanging out of the window, firing what appeared to be a handgun.

Both suspects were wearing hoodies, making a description hard to obtain, according to WSP.

Witnesses said the suspect vehicle may have been a light gray Honda hatchback with no plates, and what appeared to be a temporary registration in the back window. The WSP found and collected shell casings at the scene.

This is the 26th shooting investigation the WSP Criminal Investigation Division has handled this year on the freeway system in King County. Anyone with information should contact Ruth.Medeiros@wsp.wa.gov.
