Auburn Police looking for July 4 Lakeland Hills hit-and-run suspect

Incident occurred at an illegal intersection takeover/drift event.

The Auburn Police Department is seeking information following a July 4 hit-and-run in Lakeland Hills that resulted in a female pedestrian being seriously injured.

The Auburn Police Department (APD) reported that incident took place during an illegal intersection takeover/drifting event at 11:30 p.m. July 4 on Lake Tapps Pkwy. SE and Lakeland Hills Way SE that resulted in a hit-and-run that injured a female pedestrian. APD spokesperson Kolby Crossley said the woman is still in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center.

Crossley said that an illegal intersection takeover is an event where large numbers of spectators gather to watch people drift their cars and spin them while doing “donuts.” Crossley said these events are extremely dangerous.

Crossley said that the description of the suspect vehicle, as well as the description and number of suspects, are not being released at this time. Crossley said the department is actively working to find and dismantle these events when they happen or before.
