With Memorial Day over a month away, now is a good time to consider volunteering to help families and friends of veterans at Tahoma National Cemetery.
Located in east Kent, it is the state’s first national cemetery, where more than 60,000 American military veterans are buried.
The cemetery’s public information center is seeking volunteers to assist in greeting families, providing escorts for caskets and urns, and accompanying families to the shelter where military honors are rendered. Memorial Day is on May 26 this year and volunteers are in high demand for that day.
The Tahoma National Cemetery sits on 158.3 acres and is located at 18600 SE 240th St., Kent.
