Clement Quanrud
Clement Quanrud, 92, died peacefully in his home in Kent on March 1, 2014 after a long and full life. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Beverly, in 2007. He is survived by his children, daughter, Karen Lynn (Rick), son, John Quanrud of Kent, granddaughter, Melanie Lynn of Christchurch, New Zealand, and his sister, Winnifred Severtson of Kirkland. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Clem was born in Bismarck, North Dakota to Ludvig and Lena Quanrud on May 12, 1921. He was the oldest of four children. He served in World War ll in the Pacific stationed in Okinawa and Japan.
He settled in Seattle after the war, married Beverly, and graduated from Seattle University with a BA in Education. Clem spent 27 years as a teacher, vice principal, and principal at Kent Junior High School. He retired in 1980 and went on to become a water and sewer commissioner for the Soos Creek Water and Sewer District for the next 30 years.
There will be no funeral at his request and interment is at the Tahoma National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
