Gus Leo Santerre

Gus Leo Santerre passed away after a brief illness on Monday February 16, 2009. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Santerre, sister Roslyn Pinkerton of Colorado, and five children. His children include Russell Santerre and wife Ada; Jeffrey Santerre and wife Teresa; Kimberly MacDonald and husband Gary; Mark and wife Stacy and David and wife Gay. Grandchildren include Pete and Kate Santerre, Gabby Santerre, Chris and Alison Brooks, Christopher, Chelsea, and Madeleine Beasley, Chris and Grayson MacDonald, Michael and Patrick Santerre. Great grandchildren include Rowan Santerre, and Mason Santerre.Gus was an active member of the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Kent, WA and volunteered his time in numerous ways from coffee hour to garden work. In his later life, Gus spent time with his grown family and enjoyed his grandchildren and growing number of great grandchildren.The Santerre family first came from France to establish a social utopia and became one of the six founding families of Dallas Texas. They had their start as orchard farmers, making their living from the land beginning in 1856. Gus Santerre was born on September 18, 1931 in Dallas, Texas to Leo and Hazel Santerre. He spent his childhood in Texas and later moved to Colorado in 1945. He married Marilyn Almquist and they had 5 children. Gus spent his early adult life in the hospitality industry managing various motels and hotels. Later in life he was a successful sales person in the automobile industry spending many years at Bowen Scarff Motors. Gus lived in the Kent area for over 20 years.Memorial Service will be held on Sunday February 22, 2:00 p.m. at the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Renton.Donations can be made in the decease’s name to the First Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
