Joe Oliver
Chester Joseph Oliver, born April 26, 1921, at 93 years old, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 18, 2014. Joe was born in Snoqualmie, Washington, then lived in Kent, and finally at Boulevard Park Place in Burien.
When World War II started, Joe helped design the B-17 Bomber and then volunteered as an Experimental Flight Test Engineer on the B-17 and later on the B-29.
In 1946, Joe met and married the love of his life, Mary McGhee. He quit work at Boeing and went into partnership with his dad in the Oliver Box Company in Kent, and had
5 children, Janet, Kathy, Doug, Laurie, and Tom. Joe & Mary were devoted to each other, their 5 kids, and God. Joe took amazing care of Mary 24/7 when she developed Alzheimer’s. She died in 2006 with Joe at her side.
A memorial service will be held for Joe on Saturday, June 28, 2pm, at Des Moines Gospel Chapel, 21914 7th Avenue South, Des Moines. Phone: (206) 878-2145.
