Joshua (Bud) Michael Harp

Joshua (Bud) Michael Harp passed away at his home in Des Moines, Washington, on June 18, 2012 after a short illness. He was born on March 10, 1931 in Wibaux (County), Montana, the second son to Anna and William Harp. He graduated in 1948 from Wibaux County High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, spending much of the time in Seoul, Korea. He was Honorably Discharged in 1952. Upon returning home, he was hired by the Amerada Oil Company and worked in the fields near Belfield, ND and then Tioga, ND.In the summer of 1955, he and his older brother moved to Washington to work for the Boeing Company. Bud remained there for about 10 years. In keeping with his adventurous spirit, he then decided to pursue other endeavors which would take him to such far off places as Nome, AK and Iceland. He finished his career at the Robbins Company of Seattle working on huge tunnel boring machines. This job would take him to job sites all over the world. He retired from Robbins in 1994. Bud kept his spirit of industry and adventure throughout his retired life. He took great pride in his “JOSH”WORKS household inventions and celebrated his 65th birthday by making his first parachute jump. Bud was preceded in death by his parents William and Anna, brothers William and Patrick and nephews Curtis Harp and Vaughn Harp. Bud is survived by brothers Robert (Marlys) of Brighton, CO and Wayne of Pilot Rock, OR, sisters Betty Ann Gray of Covington, WA and Patricia Carlson of Kent, WA, 15 nieces and nephews plus many great-nieces and nephews. A service with military honors will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on Thursday, July 19 at 1:00 PM. Please sign the online guest book at www.eycfc.com
