September 29, 1936 – March 23, 2025
On March 23rd our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, Husband, Uncle and friend, LeRoy (Le) Joseph Habryle passed peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on September 29, 1936, to Henry and Frances Habryle in Chicago, IL. They moved through Wisconsin and Florida, before arriving in Renton, WA in 1945. There without electricity, Le helped his dad dig their well by hand and build their house using stones from the Green River. He graduated from Kent Meridian HS where he built lifelong friendships and put his penchant for running to good use on the track team. It was there he met Helen Nash and shortly after her graduation, they were married. He enlisted in the Washington National Guard, where he rose to the rank of Command Sergeant Major during his 43 years of service.
He proudly served as an officer and detective with the Seattle Police department for 34 years. Together they enjoyed a beautiful life with their children Lisa (Craig) and Mike (Kayla) and grandchildren, Kelli (Ryan), Jeff (Hillary), Mitchell and Katie. They were married almost 42 years, until Helen’s sudden passing.
It was through his involvement with WICS (Widowed Information & Consultation Services) that he later met and fell in love with Sara Acree. They married in 2005 creating and sharing wonderful experiences and adventures together, including welcoming Le’s four great-grandchildren Craig, Lucy, Bodie and Lila. He lived a tremendous life full of adventure, service and love. This was evident in the affiliations and community service he was involved in; some of these include The Knights of Columbus, WICS, Covington Food Storehouse, St John the Baptist, coaching high school boys and girls soccer, and the Rainy Rose Society.
Le enjoyed boating, camping and gardening. He really loved his dahlias, which he spent hours cultivating to enjoy and share. He was a very proud WSU Master Gardner and loved sharing his gardening advice. He was firm but playful, with a voice that got your attention. He loved his family and friends deeply. He was so many things to so many people and loyal beyond measure. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire and his memories will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and all who knew him.
All are welcome to join Le’s memorial service Friday April 25th, 2025, 1:30pm at St John the Baptist, in Covington, WA. A reception will follow at the church McMullen Center. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
