LIZABETH R. DIAZ

It is with great sadness that the family of Lizabeth R. Diaz announces her passing on Monday, January 1, 2018 at the age of 52 years.

Lizabeth will be lovingly remembered by her sister Rebecca J. Owens of Snowflake, Arizona. Lizabeth was predeceased by her maternal grand-parents, Ludwig Johnson & Harriet Johnson (ne’ Fevig); her paternal grand-parents, Earl Perkins and Leah R. Perkins (ne’ Dougherty); and her parents Douglas Perkins and Bonnie Perkins (ne’ Johnson). While she had no children of her own, her students brought her great joy.

Lizabeth was born in Moorhead, Minnesota in 1965. The family moved to Bellevue and then Kirkland when she was a young child, and this is where Lizabeth grew up. She attended school at Kirkland Elementary, Junior High and Lake Washington High School.

Lizabeth always knew she wanted to be a vocal teacher and embarked on a career doing what she loved. She graduated from Central Washington University. Lizabeth never stopped learning and went on to further educational goals. Lizabeth was a very caring and dedicated teacher, who touched the lives of her students in many ways. She will be greatly missed by them, as well as her colleagues and friends. Lizabeth was also an animal lover, enjoyed movies and was a detail oriented person.

A candlelight memorial celebrating Lizabeth’s life will be held at 7:20 p.m. at Renton High School on Saturday January 20th. Candles will be provided.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, 1 p.m. January 21st at Renton High School Performing Arts Center, doors to open to the public at 12:30 p.m. No reception is planned after the service. Lizabeth’s many loving students, co-workers and friends will be speaking and performing at the PAC.

Memorial donations can be made to the Estate of Lizabeth R. Diaz and marked with “Lizabeth R. Diaz Memorial Music Appreciation Fund” 7895 E. Concho Hwy, Snowflake, AZ 85937. They will be used for music appreciation needs for the schools, both Renton High School, where Lizabeth worked for over 20 years, and Karshner Elementary, where Lizabeth currently worked.
