Ruth “Jake” Smith
Ruth “Jake” Smith, because of God’s amazing grace and great love was welcomed into the presence of her Savior, Jesus Christ on January 20, 2010. Ruth is survived by her husband of 44 years, Theodore E. Smith and her children, George LaRoche, Karen Johnson, Randy LaRoche, Lynnette Lutchendorf, Lavonne Smith and an adopted daughter, Paula Brown. There are 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She retired from the Kent School District in 1996 after having taught kindergarten for 40 years. She was a wonderful mom, wife, and grandma. She was a fourth generation Disciples of Christ. She held many positions of leadership including President of CWF, Chair of the Care Ministry, Diaconate and Elder. Memorial Celebration of her life will be held at First Christian Church of Kent on Saturday, February 20, 2010. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church of Kent.
