Sandra Joyce Parr

Sandra Joyce Parr (nee Alexander) died December 25, 2008 in Coeur d’Alene after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 66 years old. Sandra was born May 13, 1942 in Coeur d’Alene, ID where she grew up and attended school graduating from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1960.She graduated from Eastern Washington State College in Cheney with a degree in education, teaching in Moses Lake before moving to Kent, WA where she taught at Pine Tree Elementary until she retired in 1997. Sandra was very involved with the Kent Education Association and served as Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer and Executive Board member over the years. She also served as a delegate at several state and national conventions. Sandra was extremely active and loved to camp, hike, kayak, and cross country ski. She was a great reader and movie fan. She loved to drive her truck taking trips around the country during summer vacations. A later highlight of her travels was a pair of trips to Europe with dear friends visiting England, Scotland, France and Italy. She looked terrific in a hat and will be remembered for the number she owned and wore. Sandra was preceded in death by her mother. She will be missed by cousins, Shelley Dumas of Grangeville and Susan Preston of Graham, WA, her close friends, Karen Campbell and family of Milwaukee and Carolina Brett and family of Coeur d’Alene and many others including hundreds of students who have known and loved her through the years. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring and is tentatively scheduled for May 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Coeur d’ Alene.Contributions in her name may be made to Hospice of North Idaho or your favorite charity.
