Theodore (Ted) John Hurn Jr.
Theodore (Ted) John Hurn Jr., passed away on June 30, 2014 at the age of 68 after a short, but fierce battle with lung cancer. Ted has been loved by many people. His smile and jokes have touched everyone from the ladies at the coffee stand, to all the folks on his mail routes, to the co-workers at the Kent Post Office, where he worked from 1966 until his retirement in early 2002.
Ted has loved so many people in his lifetime. He was born in Yakima on June 30, 1946 the son of Ted Sr. and Sally Hurn, growing up in Kent with his brother Darrell, and his sister Sharon Anderson. He married his first wife, Carolyn Wilcox in 1969, and had three daughters. Then he met the love of his life, Linda Fraser to whom he was married for 25 years. Ted adored and is survived by his three daughters and their partners; Christi (Mitch) Capra, Debora (Justin Hayward) and Becky (Chris Townsend). He even coached Christi and Becky’s softball teams when they were little girls. As his family and Linda’s family merged, he took into his heart Linda’s children, Shannon Fraser and Benjamin Fraser. He absolutely adored all of his grandchildren: Anecia, Cassie, Isebellé, Sarah, Morgan, Hailey, Jillian, and Connor. He also leaves behind his nieces Kari, Julie, and nephew Chris. His children and grandchildren lit up his life and were always present in his mind and heart.
Ted will be remembered for his amazing smoked turkey at the holidays, wicked good barbecue, his easy going laugh, and mostly for his big, soft heart.
There will be no Memorial Service. Ted will be buried at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston, Idaho with Linda’s parents, who loved Ted dearly.
